eFlexApp fault codes are intended to help troubleshoot potential issues with your eFlexFuel system from your smartphone. Not all codes indicate a "problem" but should be reviewed below. Please contact us at support@eflexfuel.com if you have any questions.
Fault codes can be triggered by electromagnetic interference with your eFlexFuel kit. Ensure the Control Unit, Ethanol Sensor, and Wiring Harness are all moved away from high voltage components, such as coil packs, as these can cause this interference.
Injector capacity is temporarily insufficient
Cause: Injector duty cycle temporarily reached near 100 percent (%).
- If no Check Engine Light is present on the vehicle and this code is infrequent, you can disregard.
- Review the duty cycle with the Log Chart feature in the eFlexApp after driving.
- If the diagram shows random spikes, this is likely caused by electromagnetic interference. Check for injector wiring near high voltage components and move it away.
Ethanol sensor is not connected
Cause: The ethanol sensor is not connected or has gone bad.
- Check that the ethanol sensor is firmly plugged in.
- Check for clean prongs on the ethanol sensor plug - look for any signs of corrosion, dirt, damage, etc. preventing a good connection.
- Confirm the wiring harness routing is not close to high voltage components that can cause electromagnetic interference.
Low ethanol content
Cause: The ethanol sensor has detected a low ethanol content. This warning limit is 2% ethanol. Under normal circumstances, gasoline contains at least 5% ethanol.
- This warning may appear on startup the first time after installing your eFlexFuel kit. This is because there is no fuel touching the sensor at this time. Clear the code and it should not come back.
- If the content reading remains 0%, ensure the ethanol sensor is connected to a fuel line and not something else, such as a breather hose.
- Low ethanol content reading can also mean there is air in your fuel system, indicating low fuel pressure. The fuel pump may be worn out or the fuel filter may be clogged.
Fuel is contaminated
Cause: The ethanol sensor has detected contaminated fuel (bad gasoline, water in the fuel tank, etc.).
- If the sensor detects the fuel is contaminated, it will default to fueling for E40 (40% ethanol) as a safety precaution given the sensor does not know the actual ethanol % in the fuel.
- Minimize driving while this code is triggered and avoid hard driving.
Temperature sensor signal is out of range
Cause: The temperature sensor has detected a temperature that is out of the measurement range or is damaged.
- Confirm the wiring harness components are not routed close to any high voltage components.
- Check the entire length of the temperature sensor to confirm no damage is present.
